Released on January 17, 1966. The album's title is a slight modification of the title of the duo's first major hit, "The Sounds of Silence". The hit song was recorded before this albums release, the electric instruments and drums were overdubbed by Bob Dylan's studio band on June 15, 1965 and released in September 1965 as a single. This album followed 4 months later...
A formidable effort, "Sounds of Silence" introduced us to a songwriter whose poetic gifts and thought-provoking lyrics not only followed hot on the heels of Bob Dylan, but also produced a fresh-sounding melodic work that further strengthened the folk-rock genre. A notable precursor to more works of a profound and lasting import ("Bookends" especially), the album is definitely a timeless gem that gets forgotten until played. Probably one of the best albums from the entire era, honestly. Sound of Silence shows Paul Simon at his writing best with deeper cuts like "Richard Cory" and "A Most Peculiar Man" to go along with classics like "I Am a Rock" and the title track, this album is nearly perfect.

VERY collection worthy appearance...
The vinyl: Rated: is all clean and clear near M- looks extremely clean and expect copy to have minty clean audio. Both 360 Sound Columbia labels are CLEAN with a small issue of an ages old store sticker on one side which we leave alone. All over including both labels
