PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! This wild sixties band from Melbourne, THE LOVED ONES, were formed in 1965. It was Ian Clyne's first band but he went on to play in several others. Anderson and Lovett came from another Melbourne band The Wild Cherries. Delacy was originally from the U.S.. It was Gerry Humphreys; whose raucous vocals and stage persona, made the band a big live attraction in Australia.
The LOVED ONES were one of the very best Aussie sixties bands. All of their members came from good musical backgrounds and they had a great live act. Their album is a legendary collectible and leads off with two of the snottiest punk winners straight from the peak of PEBBLES garage punk '60s in the classics "The Loved One" and "Every Lovin' Man" where Gerry Humphreys' vocals are best described as "gutbucket".... Only this issue contains 3 RARE "LIVE IN CONCERT" tracks from 1967 .... by the way, The Loved Ones announced their arrival in in early 1966 with their inimitable debut single "Everlovin' Man". A bluesy groove that showed off Gerry's astonishing vocal range and Ian's inspired Hohner electric keyboard foundations, this single remarkably failed to chart until it was re-released in July of '66 on W&G’s pop imprint, In Records. But it certainly attracted attention, paving the way for the follow-up, "The Loved One", a raggedly driving, jiving rocker -- again inn 3/4 time -- that sorched up the charts to #2 in Sydney and #15 in Melbourne soon after its May 1966 release. In its wake, "Everlovin’ Man" hit #9 in Sydney and #2 in Melbourne when it was re-issued, dominating the upper reaches of the charts for 19 weeks.
The band sported a hip, stylish Mod image and they soon built up a solid following in Melbourne and further afield. In early 1967 they consolidated their reputation with its third single, the baroque, brooding "Sad Dark Eyes". Another song that has been lovingly covered in recent times by another respected Aussie rock performer, Ed Kuepper, formerly of seminal Brisbane punk outfit The Saints. This song was a moderate hit for The Loved Ones (respectable top forty placings in the capital city charts), but it was the first without the contributions of Clyne, who quit the band in late ‘66, to be replaced on keyboard duties by Treva Richards. The Loved Ones secured the support slot on the 1967 national tour by The Animals and The Hollies, which coincided with their last charting single, a complex and the final brace of tracks that completed the marvellous, seminal, solitary Loved Ones studio album, Magic Box, and a couple intriguing poprock ditties called "A Love Like Ours". Kim Lynch departed soon after, and Rob Lovett switched to bass to make way for American guitarist Danny Delacy. This line-up lasted until the group’s break-up in November 1967, but was able to record and add more fine singles. The '67 first pressing LOVED ONES album "MAGIC BOX" has been hotly sought after by collectors for many years and commands in the three figurer dollars range for LESS than mint copies...
