Description
PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us. Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable.

Yes, the plodding thud of "Aw Give Me Air" barely left room for its salvaging, fluid, overlaid guitar licks, and where "Satori" had served as a suitably alien landscape above which singer Joe Yamanaka's wildest shrieks totally soar! "Made in Japan's earthier songs, like the mostly acoustic "Unaware" and the Hendrix-inspired love-in theme, "Heaven or Hell," are highlights, yet when FLOWER TRAVELLIN' BAND plant their collective foot down firmly upon their heavy acid- rock comfort zone, they result in SATORI flames as in "Kamikaze" and "Hiroshima" (which revisited the sequence introduced one year earlier by "Satori, Part III") equaling their highest of highs.

Nearly as powerful is the aptly titled "Spasms," shuddering and flailing with a certain Krautrock spirit. The album-closing "That's All," crawls like a funeral march blending the Doors' "The End" with exotic shades of Indian music and spiritual sitar.
The "FAN MAN" ADDS:
While certainly possessed of a psychedelic flavor, Flower Travellin’ Band was above all a rock band, with definite prog-rock tendencies that thankfully add to the proceedings without detracting from the riffs. Don’t be fooled by the opening "Unaware,” which is a slow, deep bluesy piece; from there the band turns up the fuzz and gets heavier. The center trio — "Kamikaze,” "Hiroshima” and "Spasms" — are where it’s at.
Hideki Ishima’s sharp guitar work and Joe Yamanaka’s soaring vocals form the backbone of these songs. On the album’s centerpiece, "Hiroshima,” his voice bears a strong Ozzy/Sabbath flavor that fits perfectly with Ishima’s fuzzed-out guitar. The latter floats in the back during the verses, but eventually takes off for a marvelous middle eastern-tinged solo. The band’s ability to float one moment and stab the next is one of the tricks that made Flower Travellin’ Band special, and it’s where the group’s prog-rock attitude benefits them most. When everyone turns as a unit and suddenly hits on all cylinders, it’s exhilarating.
