matrix (hand-inscribed):

ILPS 9116    A/2    UAS 5504 A    6 . 3 . 70    RC    LH

ILPS 9116    B/2    UAS 5504 B    6 . 3 . 70    AM    LH

matrix areas also machine-stamped:

STERLING    13    C    1

slightly heavier, more rigid, original and earliest 1st UK pressing with the US (United Artists) catalogue number inscribed in the run-out groove matrix areas - super high gloss surfaces - beautifully mastered massive fat stereo sound with thrusting bottom end, broad mid-range and penetrating, crystal-clear highs - as new with no scratches, scuffs, hairlines, edge wear, fingermarks or hazing - barely even the very lightest, virtually invisible traces from the inner bag - it would be impossible to find a more pristine example - correct original 'basing street' (prior to 'st. peters square' issues) pale blue poly-lined Island paper inner sleeve

SUPERB MINT CONDITION

labels MINT

heavily textured original deep pink white 'i' labels

lovely vintage original 1st press textured labels are clean, bright, clear and sharp - rich deep pink colour (see photos) this is a beautifully preserved unplayed archive record - there are NO spindle marks to either label

PERFECT AND BLEMISH-FREE

cover MINT

printed and made by the E.J. Day Group, London and Bedford

original UK 1st issue thick heavy gatefold cover printed on virgin unfinished cardboard

due to natural fibres present in the pulping process, each and every example was unique

gorgeous thick and heavy 1st issue sleeve with NO signs of handling or ageing at all - NO yellowing, fading or stains - the various markings and colouration in the virgin cardboard are a natural characteristic of this unusual process, whereby print was applied directly to untreated board in order to produce the distinctive 'rustic' effect specifically desired by the band and designer Mike Sida - the cover has perfect square corners - incredible razor-sharp opening edges are completely as new - all seams tight and perfect with (amazingly!) absolutely NO shelf wear - flat undamaged and unfaded spine with clear, sharp lettering - as new interior gatefold layout with glorious vibrant colour - this sleeve has NEVER been vandalised by folding out completely flat so it is still crisp and tight - the entire package is in fresh-from-the-factory condition - there is NO circular wear or impression of the record to either the front, rear or interior sleeve

THE ULTIMATE UK ORIGINAL

A UNIQUELY SPECIAL EXAMPLE - THE BEST I HAVE SEEN, INCLUDING MY OWN, IN 35 YEARS

I SOLD A NEAR PERFECT COPY HERE ON EBAY LAST YEAR - THIS ONE IS EVEN BETTER!

GLAD    FREEDOM RIDER    EMPTY PAGES

STRANGER TO HIMSELF    JOHN BARLEYCORN    EVERY MOTHERS SON

IT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND ANOTHER EXAMPLE IN SUPERIOR CONDITION

postage

fast and reliable airmail shipping worldwide is a flat rate of £12 - cheaper (£8) if you want less protection

within Australia advise postcode for quote

packing

time and care taken to make your purchase safe and secure

I pack to the highest standard with strong mailing boxes, thick and heavy oversized inner boards and additional internal wrapping so that records and LP covers cannot be damaged

the disc and cover are always housed separately in a quality plastic sleeve

I do not use those useless flimsy mailers favoured by so many sellers

my guarantee: you will never receive an LP cover from me with bent corners

photos

email if more pics / info required

unlike many sellers, I NEVER open gatefold covers completely flat for photographic purposes - this practise will almost certainly cause permanent damage to the spine
