Tramline : Somewhere Down The Line A/B 1st Press 1968 Pink Eye Island Label
This rare and very collectable first pressing plays with superb audio for the vast majority with only one section on S1 playing with some interference which is not loud anyway. Aside from that the clarity, depth and in particular the power of the audio is very impressive. There are a small number of light markings on the vinyl plus one miniscule scratch on S1 but overall it is in excellent order. Pressed in only limited numbers this will not disappoint as, like I say, the sonic quality across most of the album is stunning!
The laminated cover remains in excellent shape with only a little shelf wear and the inner sleeve has some creasing only.
This first pressing has an A/B matrix and was released on the pink eye Island label. The cover is also fully laminated on both sides.

Visual description
The vinyl is in very good condition and only under a bright light can you see some faint hairlines and 3/4 fade type lines that have no affect on the audio. S1 has a tiny scratch but until you play the music you would not know it was there! The run out grooves are very clean and the rough textured pink eye Island labels are in superb condition with no marking or spindle wear.
Play grading
The intro on 'Harpoon Man' is superb and the opening vocal is equally as strong. It continues to play with tremendous power and depth and right to the very end there is no sign of any interference. I've never heard such good harmonica work! A fantastic start to this very collectable album. A real foot stomping Mint start!
You need a come down after that and the quieter intro on 'National Blues' provides that with great clarity and only a handful of light ticks. This instrumental then plays with stunning quality for the vast majority although there are some light clicks during a 30 second section near the end. They are not that intrusive really and only a couple are a little louder but not that loud! I will grade this as Ex+ for the majority and VG for that one section.
No such issues with 'Sorry Sorry' which plays with exceptional quality throughout. The long intro is more or less perfect with only a handful of barely audible ticks and the first vocal section does indeed play with perfect clarity. The next instrumental section again plays with genuine quality - no background at all, not even light background static. The following vocal is flawless and the remainder of this classic bluesy track is of the same high end standard. Overall Mint- is an honest assessment of the audio here.
'Look Over Yonder Wall' ends the side with great clarity and power from start to finish. There is no interference and no inner groove distortion either. The audio has real depth to it and I cannot find one single negative. A Mint finish to a very impressive side.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'Rock And Roll Woman' on S2 again shows how well this vinyl has been looked after down the years. I only detected three mega light ticks but basically no interference. It plays with great power and has to grade as Mint- at the very least.
The intro on 'Somewhere Down The Line' has just one barely audible tick and the opening vocal section plays with sublime clarity and depth and... no interference. It proceeds in much the same way with no intrusion on the audio - a couple of minor ticks on the fade out that is all. Mint- is again deserved.
'Mazurka' is fantastic! Heavy on percussion this instrumental plays with tremendous power and there is nothing that gets in the way of the audio. I am happy to grade this as Mint such is the sonic quality on offer here. Popple was a fine drummer!
'Statesborough Blues' has just one very light click during the second vocal but otherwise plays with phenomenal quality. I must highlight the power and depth of the audio again - it could not be any more impressive and the vocals are superb also. Let's say Near Mint but clearly 99% is far better than that!
The intro on 'Killing Floor' has one light dull click right at the start but no other intrusion. The opening vocal has no interference and thereafter plays with great precision. An interesting version of this classic the clarity cannot be faulted and with only a couple of very light ticks the clarity is very impressive. A Near Mint finish to this rare album.
In summary the vast majority of this rare and collectable first pressing plays to a superb standard. It is only 'National Blues' that has some interference that you say is intrusive. All other tracks play with stunning quality and barely any interference. The power and depth of the audio especially is so impressive and the original sonic quality has not been affected at all. There is no 'muddiness' to the sound, no distortion and it still plays loud and true with wonderful clarity overall.
The Cover & Inner Sleeve
The laminated cover has a little shelf wear but nothing too obvious. The edges are very clean with only the bare minimum of rubbing and the thin pinched spine is in great condition with hardly any wear on the corners. The right hand corners have only minimal wear and the opening edge looks more or less untouched. The front cover is very clean but does have some laminate lift next to the spine and the top corners have a little creasing. There is also some laminate wear in a couple of areas near the bottom edge but this is only minor. The back cover is in excellent order with only a couple of creases in the top left corner. Not a perfect cover but a respectable one with no major wear.
The plain white die-cut inner has no side splits, tears or marking and only a little creasing here and there. It has the Patent No. 1.125,555 in one corner and Made In England printed in the other.
