TRANSITION: Second Time Around (MC3 MC 7114/1971?)

Only known copy of what appears to be a school project LP. My review in The Acid Archives (for which this copy was used) describes this best:

Mystery possible college project LP with different vocalists and instrumental combos. All apparent originals except the opener, a very primitive “That’ll Be the Day” ith good thumping bass line, and “Loch Lomond” sung with a bad faux-Scottish burr but with a good rocking mandolin/trumpet/heavy bass/ drums backing.

Among the originals, Side 1 stand-outs are “Strawberry Days”, a hippie goddess folk rocker with angelic dual female vocals and a heavy electric guitar rhythm; “Right On”, a psychy folk rocker which has the sound of a teenage Bob Edmund, complete with garagy organ/drum backing; and “Go With the Game”, a rocker with a slightly funky rhythm guitar and bass line, a secondary trumpet melody and a Lee Oskar War-like harmonica solo.

Side 2 highlights include “Smile At the Sun”, with a mellow Annie Haslam style vocal and jazz-tinged electric keyboard backing (a bit reminiscent of early Steely Dan - think “Do It Again”); “KS Rebellion” a male vox folk song with odd lyrics (“Go fight your battle, Go herd your cattle”); and “the closing “Vida Blues”, a thumping bass blues jam with cool dixieland style trumpet leads and a wailing harmonica solo or two.

The LP comes in a cover with a spray painted front, and possibly a paste-on back cover which contained all the info (apparently ripped off from the one known existing copy).

The cover has mild ringwear on front; some cracking on the spine; a 1 1/2" split on the bottom seam; a couple of tiny splits on the top seam. As mentioned in the AA review, the back cover seems to be missing a paste-on page. There is staining of what would presumably be glue used to have held it in place.

The record is VG+ - the pressing quality looks fairly mediocre, vinyl looks rather blemished; the first song on Side 1 has a moderate number of small marks which cause crackling throughout. The secondsong playswith some intermittent light crackle forthe first half. There are some light scuff marks on several of the 2nd side tracks, though those don't cause any loud sound (there is some very sparse light crackle on the side) .

There is an address sticker on the second side label, which is actually the only clue on the record as to its presumed Michigan location

GENERAL INFO

SHIPPING: Shipping costs will be quoted based on cost for estimated weight plus $1.00 to cover most of the cost of packing materials.

All records are packed in in between two cardboard filler pads and shipped in professional cardboard mailing boxes. All unsealed  12" records are taken out of their covers to prevent seam splitting. If there is a custom inner sleeve, the record will be put in a separate white inner. If a 7" record comes in a picture sleeve, the same procedure is followed.

GRADING: I grade records both visually and audibly. As grading is so imprecise and subjective, I don't have a set grading description like you see listed in many auction and collector magazines. My grades for  records and covers are based on the overall conditions I describe in each auction; I will note any visual defects and (for the vinyl) any non-musical sounds (pops, clicks, skips, etc.).
