TREE PEOPLE 'Human Voices' LP (Spain, Guerssen, Catalogue #GUESS055) Brand new/unplayed copy of superior, limited Guerssen Records label LP edition (edition of 500 copies only) of rare 1984 rural loner folk psych album (issued as a cassette-only release in 1984, following up their debut self-titled album from 1979) by Eugene, Oregon band Tree People.

'This is the second album from Oregon's The Tree People, the late '70s Oregon-based predecessors to the ongoing new folk movement in the USA. You already know about their 1979 debut album and you know it's a masterpiece, but did you know about their second album recorded in 1984? Surely not, especially because it was a cassette-only release with a very short print-run. The sound quality on this reissue is splendid, and the music itself is equally as good, if not better than, their self-titled debut and is a real must for any folk and psych-folk lover. Acoustic guitars, subtle percussion, pastoral flute work and some warm vocals make The Tree People's music absolutely ahead of its time. A real beauty! Includes an insert with liner notes by the band's leader Stephen Cohen, as well as some nice pictures.'
(Some commentary on Tree People's previous, original debut self-titled album from 1979): 'Stark acoustic guitars, recorders, and a variety of percussion instruments make this a distinctive hippie folk album. The Modality Stew comparisons are valid, as there are a number of experimental instrumentals with an Eastern flavor. The vocals are strong, and at times the bleak songs resemble Nick Drake. Not all of it works, most of the songs are variations on two themes (one vocal, the other instrumental), and the one diversion is hopelessly 70s singer-songwriter, but this is definitely something that will interest fans of loner and experimental folk.
