(please note! there were no mono pressings of this album)  The vinyl was played at loud volume prior to listing on a top system, absolutely superb throughout  probably one of the most vibrant copies that I have heard  of this album cristal clear and very vibrant incredible to find after  42  years like this. Audio graded at least Excellent plus to Very Near Mint (light interference only!)  The vinyl features the earliest "1" to"1" Mother stampers and pressed from the earliest masters, look -3u & -1u Matrix endings and incredibly earliest  '1'to'1' mother stampers. A Beard of Stars is the fourth album by Tyrannosaurus Rex, comprising Marc Bolan (vocals, guitar, organ, bass) and Mickey Finn (percussion). It was released in March 1970. It is notable for the beginning of Bolan using electric instruments on the T.Rex albums!.

The Vinyl

This is the original heavy thick and chunky type of vinyl with deep grooves! (only found on these early pressings!) The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and initial inspection still retains its original super glossy apearance! Looking at the vinyl under strong light I can't see any needle scratches at all,, at least nothing that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops! Any marks that would possibly be seen would be sleeve removal or the odd surface scuffs only.

The Audio Quality

I have played this through track for track as usual at very loud volume on a top system two times prior to this listing! The audio is awesome! Cristal clear and vibrant all of the way through with (no) signs of any distortion or that this has been overplayed at all, probably one of the most vibrant copies that I have seen or heard! Very Very rare for a T Rex vinyl that is an incredible 38 years old! Please note! Light static noted in between tracks and quieter places and isolated pop heard but mainly obliterated in the music. Two pops noted on side two.  The audio is absolutely superbe i dought you would find a better and more vibrant sounding copy!   THIS AUDIO IS AWESOME FOR AN ORIGINAL STEREO RECORDING SO RARE TO FIND LIKE THIS INDEED!! LOVELY RICH AUDIO ON ALL FREQUENCIES! No distortion and certainlty (no) jumps or skips! The vinyl has obviously been played but certainly not been overplayed! I would class myself as highly critical Please look at my completed listings of records that I have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right! I would grade the audio at least excellent plus to near mint! (isolated interferance only)

Please note! I always make this disclaimer!! I have given my honest opinion when describing the audio quality as i hear it! ,, after playing the album on a top system at very loud volume! Although I never heard any major problems other than previously described,,,, Please allow for the odd static ticks\crackle/pop here and there (not consistant throughout the audio. Please remember that this is a genuine 42 year old vinyl,, that would have originally  been played on a 42 year old system!

Points to note! This album has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 35 years! ,, and this would benefit from a constant clean before each play! From my personal experiance a build up of dirt and dust in the grooves from laying dormant causes light static crackle and constant cleaning subsequently reduces this and greatly enhances the audio quality!

The labels

Regal Zonophone labels (only 1st press)   made in Gt Britain is featured (UK presing) Spidering can be seen angled to the light, little if no spindle ware ! The hole is perfectly round!

The Record Sleeve
This is a plain white poly lined sleeve. Light creasing/staining with age only.

The cover

This is the original fully laminated  1st press cover!  firstly this is strong and straight the laminate is glossy shows very very minor minimal crease lines to the front near spine edges only to mention and not really noticed unless looked for in my opinion. Light thumb creases in the laminate  in fact in general  light storageware to talk of, minor rubbing/ringware at the rear again not noticed unless looked for. Any indents in the laminate and corner bumping are again only noticed if looked for.  The writing at the spine can be read clearly! I notice a small split/wear beginning at the top edge but again you have to look to notice in my opinion. This is the original generally straight and clean. graded at excellent in my opinion!

 The Lyric insert
This is the original picture insert actually very nice and clean, never been used or put on a wall.

Summary
This original 1st UK pressing is now long deleted and the demand for this album on vinyl is now reissued on 180 gram vinyl. Originals and playable copies are becoming very, very desirable, sought after and very collectable. The overall condition of this album is excellent in my opinion and clean vibrant sounding original 1st UK pressed/issued copies like this one is very hard to find and the audio can not be beaten in any other format in my opinion.
