Oakland label Fatsouls welcomes back Trinidadian Deep for 'Sonic Vibrations', where ancestral steelpan is queued through a cosmic kaleidoscope. One seamless band of sound is supplied by the Trinidad-born, Toronto-based producer Damian Lee Ah Yen, evidencing weather control superpowers: aerial ambience meets bellying, lower-down beats, like a drum circle made to levitate by its own force of percussion; nodding to his long lineage in Ron Trent's Prescription school of sound design. From the misty pulse of 'Sonic Seductions' to the liquid flow of 'Endless', and the echo-heavy reworks 'Oya Remix' and 'Rude Dub', it's an advanced lesson in layering and meditative continuity.
