'Truk Tracks'
CBS, UK, 1971
64367
VERY OBSCURE - aren't they all - five piece heavy rock band out of Oklahoma specialising in crushing riffs and unrelenting waves of heavy organ bringing to mind such scene shapers as Atomic Rooster, Granicus, Highway Robbery, and Bloodrock. Make no mistake this is mean and lean hard rock pushing all the right buttons for lovers of proto metal but with great songs and cool multi-layered backing vocals just to thicken up and sweeten the bruising riffage. Great guitar playing on this one - way ahead of the pack. Best tracks for sheer mind blowing heaviosity are 'Silence' and 'Max'...let the mayhem begin! By the way there's a cover of UK Gun's 'Yellow Cab Man' just how they got to hear that one is pretty baffling.
Amazingly the album was picked up and released by CBS in the UK. Willie Daffen later went on to resurface in a revitalised Captain Beyond.
