TUBBY HAYES 100% Proof 1967 UK FONTANA 1st *MONO* NEAR MINT

THE TUBBY HAYES ORCHESTRA
100% Proof

1967 UK FONTANA ?(TL 5410) FIRST *MONO* PRESSING
GREAT COPY - ONCE/TWICE PLAYED WITH SUPERB SOUND

Recorded with a veritable who's-who of greats including saxophonists Ronnie Scott and Ray Warleigh, trumpeters Kenny Baker and Kenny Wheeler, and drummer Ronnie Stevenson, 100% Proof endures among the truly seminal recordings in the British jazz canon, galvanised by revolutionary arrangements that reinvent both the otherwise familiar material and the dynamics of the big-band formula. In addition to his signature tenor sax, Tubby Hayes tackles flute and vibes across the span of the album's six standards, and his evocative, supremely confident performance serves as the beacon that leads his collaborators into the unknown -- songs like "A Night in Tunisia" and "Milestones" are radically recast in the crucible of collaboration, and for all the new directions the music explores, the cohesion and intensity of the musicians never waver
