Description

IF YOU'RE A SONG WRITER, you know you've got a "NATIONAL EARWORM" going when your song is SO overwhelmingly popular, that it's coming out of people's radios, phonographs, street-organs, household appliances and kids; and folks are protesting "ENOUGH!" and other songwriters are aping it and/or composing "Anti-Song-Songs" about it.

Here, then, are two classic examples of National Earworms:  the 1923 "YES, WE HAVE NO BANANAS," played by Ben Selvin's Orchestra on a nice red-brick Vocalion; and the 1926 "VALENCIA," by Paul Whiteman and his Orchestra.  As in the 1920s, both of these STILL have the insidious capability of driving people to wall-climbing heights of irritation.

The respective flip sides, "RITZI MITZI" and "NO MORE WORRYIN'" are pleasant enough chasers.

This original 1923 red-brick Vocalion 14590 is in lovely E condition. And this original 1926 "Scroll" Victor 20007 is in only slightly soiled E- condition.

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing!  My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value.  I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all.  If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will!  Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.”  I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
