TYRANNOSAURUS REX - MY PEOPLE WERE FAIR

ORIGINAL 1968 STEREO REGAL ZONOPHONE LABEL DEBUT ALBUM ORIGINAL PRESSING WITH FRONT LAMINATED SLEEVE AND RARE LYRIC INSERT.

SLRZ 1003

MATRIX NUMBERS 1G 1G

Original UK first pressing from Marc Bolan's TYRANNOSAURUS REX ( later known as T REX ) of their stunning debut album MY PEOPLE WERE FAIR AND HAD STARS IN THEIR HAIR...BUT NOW THEY'RE CONTENT TO WEAR STARS ON THEIR BROWS. The album is in excellent condition and is complete with the mega rare lyric insert.

Released in 1968. The album features Marc Bolan on vocals and guitars, and Steve Peregrine Took on backing vocals, drums, pixiephone, and percussion. The album also features the late John Peel, who reads a MARC BOLAN penned fairytale for the album's closing track, "Frowning Atahuallpa (My Inca Love)," which includes what must be one of the earliest "Hare Krishna" chants on a British pop record (two years before George Harrison's My Sweet Lord).

The album's music is much influenced by Tyrannosaurus Rex' psychedelic contemporaries, and marks, for Bolan, a rejection of the electric guitar led freakbeat music he'd been playing with his previous band, John's Children.

Tracks on this album are HOT ROD MAMA - SCENESCOF - CHILD STAR - STRANGE ORCHESTRAS - CHATEAU IN VIRGINIA WATERS - DWARFISH TRUMPET BLUES - MUSTANG FORD - AFGHAN WOMAN - KNIGHT - GRACEFUL FAT SHEBA - WEILDER OF WORDS - FROWNING ATAHUALLPA.

The VINYL, The Vinyl is in excellent condition, it has been well played, but looked after and it plays through extremely well. Needless to say it plays free from sticks or skips or nasty pops etc.

The SLEEVE, The front laminated flip back sleeve which features beautiful artwork by George Underwood ( later famous for his DAVID BOWIE SPACE ODDITY LP ) is in very good condition, it is free from unwanted writings etc, but there is some light staining to the rear , otherwise a very respectable example of this rare album. The spine is clean with text fully legible.

The LABELS, The red and silver labels are clean. Needless to say there are no unwanted stickers or unwanted writing etc.

I try to be accurate in my grading as I know what its like to buy miss graded items but won't insult you by writing song lyrics etc
