They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute.

Talking Heads 1983 LP Speaking in Tongues Rauschenberg Cover, Special BONUS 45!

Extremely limited run of only 50,000 copies on clear vinyl, most people don’t realize that this album packaging was a reproduction of an earlier Rauschenberg work that he’d completed in 1967.  You spin the color wheels to create a changing image of a car wreck.  The album sold a million copies in total, meaning that the limited run represents only 5% of the copies out there!

The special bonus single I’ve chosen to pair with the album is a British first pressing Brian Eno single called “King’s Lead Hat.”  Kudos if you know what that significance is. 

For those who don’t, when the band needed a name, Robert Fripp from King Crimson took this title, flipped all the letters around and came up with “Talking Heads” from “King’s Lead Hat.”

Pretty cool, huh?

Vinyl--- EX/EX.  Both sides of the vinyl look bright and shiny.  Each side has a long and light scuff or two that you can’t feel with your fingertip.  Your stylus won’t notice a thing.

Plates--- Very hard to read the plate numbers as there are a lot of them, and they overlap.  As the LP is pressed in clear vinyl, you can’t make them out all the way, but needless to say, this copy is a first pressing, right?

Cover--- VG+.  These clear covers all turn root beer brown with time.  Not sure whether that was part of the artwork, or whether the Oscar Meyer plant just used inferior plastic.  (Yes, that Oscar Meyer!) 

Apart from that, the packaging is completely 100% intact with no breakages.

Color Wheels--- VG+.  All three color wheels are in nice condition, but they have very light and fine hairline scratches.

Labels--- EX/EX.  Some slight spindle marks per side, none serious.

Inner Sleeve--- None.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided.

Vinyl--- NM.  Both sides look unplayed.

Plates--- 2001762 A//1, 2001762 A//2.

Labels--- NM/NM.  Very beautiful deep stamp information with anti-slippage label serrations.

Sleeve--- Original Polydor black sleeve is present and in EX condition.  NO SPLITS.

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
