Description
This is a very nice copy of Classic Records 200g pressing of Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture”, Mendelssohn’s “Fingal’s Cave”, Liszt’s “Mephisto Waltz”, and Brahm’s “Tragic Overture” with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra conducted by Fritz Reiner on 4 single-sided 200 g. 45 RPM records. The 45 RPM set is a complete recording LSC-2241. When I first bought this new, the records were cleaned with a VPI record cleaner and treated with LAST record preservative. More recently it was recleaned with Audio Intelligent Fluids on a VPI cleaner and on an Audio Desk ultra sonic record cleaner. It has also been demagnetized with a Furutech DeMag. The recording is very spacious and dynamic. Side 1 plays mostly quietly with a few light ticks in the first few minutes and then only 2 ticks after that. Side 2 plays mostly very quietly with 10 light ticks over the side. Side 3 plays very quietly but has 9 light ticks over the side. Side 4 plays mostly very quietly but has 4 faint ticks in the first 2 minutes and 3 faint ticks after that over the remainder of the side. There are no scratches or scuffs. I have only played the records a few times on various VPI tables I have owned (HW-19 MKIV, TNT 3.5, and Classic 4) using either Lyra or Benz Mico Ruby cartridges. The sound is naturally open and detailed. Only the first jacket is the regular 200g jacket. The remaining three are plain white jackets with a sticker. There are no seam splits. Only side A of each LP is pressed. Side B is blank. Multiple records can be combined in an order to save shipping costs.
