Tchaikovsky Rachmaninov Nathan Milstein Aust Columbia SAXO 2563
On “Music of Old Russia”, Nathan Milstein with Orchestra conducted by Robert Irving performs Rachmaninov’s “Vocalise”, Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Fantasy on Russian Themes” (arranged Kreisler), three works by Tchaikovsky and one each by Moussgorsky and Glazounov. An Australian stereo pressing on the English Columbia Label (SAXO 2563), the labels are blue/green with silver radio waves and border, and black stereophonic flash. The side one label has a “sample record” sticker. The record is of excellent appearance, and plays and sounds superb with occasional surface noise. The cover (English front/Australian back) is excellent.
This review record is a part of a collection that originally was either played a few times for review purposes, (or not at all) and stored carefully and unplayed over the following 40 years. View my other auctions for more superb early classical records.
