Description
This is a very nice stereo Japanese pressing of Ernest Ansermet and L’Orchestre de la Suisse Romande performing Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake as issued by King Records (catalogue number K18C-8801/2). The 2-record set is a regular weight LP (NOT 180g) and was originally issued by London Records. The record is from my personal collection and was initially cleaned on a VPI record vacuum and treated with Last Record preservative. It was re-cleaned with an Audio Desk Ultra-sonic record cleaner.
The record was recently play-graded using a Benz Micro LPS on a VPI Classic IV turntable. The condition of the LPs is as follows: Side 1 – there is a small (~2 mm) light scratch at the beginning of band 3 – the side plays mostly quietly with approximately 27 light ticks noted over the side; Side 2 – there is a 5 mm light scratch in the middle of the first band and a small scuff (5 mm) in the middle of the side – the record plays mostly quietly but I noted approximately 53 light ticks over the side; Side 3 – There is a light 5 mm scratch at the beginning of the side and a 3 mm mark in the vinyl in the middle of the first band – it plays quietly with only 14 light ticks noted over the side; Side 4 – there are 4 small (1 mm) light scratches in the lead-in groove (2 light ticks) with an additional 6 ticks noted over the remainder of the side.
The gatefold jacket is in excellent condition with no seam splits or bends, but there is some slight compression on the lower left corner. There are notes on the inside of the jacket but they are only in Japanese. The LP is missing the original insert which would have have had notes in Japanese.
