So many time with these AUDIOPHILE recordings you get great a technical recording but with mediocre players and/or performances. Not this time! THIS IS A SPECIAL RECORDING! Big, Rousing, Pagen and just an awful lot of fun.
Carmina Burana is reproduced on three LP sides thereby offering the following advantages
- Wider groove spacing eliminates groove echo.
- No limiting or compressing, thus providing the widest possible dynamic range (which this performance demands)
- No equalization, resulting in wide, natural frequency response
- I was a factory Rep. for many years in the Hi-Fi industry and acquired these disc at that time.
- I work as a Rep. for Audio-Technica for 8 of those years, A-T was the distributor for these records back then.
- I purchased these recordings from Audio-Technica as samples. In fact I asked for and was sent four (4) copies of each release. One to use as a demo for my dealers, one to play at home, no matter what I did the dealer demos always got beaten up after a while. Too many demos, too many people handling them and many different grades of playback equipment used by various dealers. The remaining two disc I put aside for the future, these unopened & unplayed disc are the ones I am selling.
- These disc are all NEW circa 1978-1982, that is to say these do not come from current pressings but were some of the very first pressings ever made of these records. In fact the we Reps were shipped our demos directly from the German plant were the pressing was done. It was only after we went around demoing (is that really a word? ) and taking orders that Audio-Technica placed their orders with the German pressing plant to fill those dealer orders. As you may know it is general felt that the first pressing are the best. With the combination of heat used in melting the vinyl and the general wear and tear of pressing thousands of records from the stampers, that form & press the records, will eventually wear down these stampers and later disc pressings are degraded compared to the first pressings.
- All records are NEW, still in their factory sealed clear plastic covers, all covers are mint. There are no tears or rips in the plastic protective cover and no mars on the album covers themselves.
- There are holes in the plastic protective covers however. These are perfectly round machine made holes punched out at the factory. My guess is it was to let air escape so the covers would not puff up as ambient air temperature changed.
- As you may see from the photo of each disc the transparent plastic cover is loose or baggy on the record and not shrink wrapped. This is good for two reasons. One shrink wrapped records could be warped by too tight of shrink wrap, especially if subjected to large temperature variations. You know, made in a nice warm pressing plant, put on a truck in the cold, shipped across the ocean, put in a unheated warehouse, etc., etc... Secondly these loose or baggy covers were only on the early pressing and therefore they show that these were some of the earliest records pressed. In time all pressing were done in the tight fitting shrink wrap as they are today.
This recording has been an audiophile favorite ever since it was released. To find a earlier pressing , unopened will not happen too often, if at all. Recently an open copy sold for $91.00 This album contains two LPs. Of which three sides are recorded on. The record is brand new in sealed factory plastic jackets. The Sound Engineer is Jack Renner . For those of you who do not follow such things you should know the Jack Renner is generally regarded as a legend in the recording world. Telarc record # DG-10056/57
I am selling several of my Telrac Soundstream disc currently and I would like to explain as to why these particular disc are so special.

I will be glad to answer any questions you may ask but please do not ask, as others have in the past, the condition of the records or their surfaces. They are NEW, they are FACTORY SEALED, they have not seen the light of day in 25-30 years so neither I or anyone else has laid eyes upon them since then. I presume, and have no reason to not believe, that they are as perfect as the day they were made.
