Television Personalities - Where’s Bill Grundy Now? -Orig Wrap. Beatles Cover Ex. Condition is "Used". Dispatched with Royal Mail Signed For® 1st Class Large Letter.

This is the original folded paper wraparound sleeve, with the white labels. There were four variants released, this one has the “black square” on the front and The Beatles on the back. There’s a visible scratch on the vinyl (tried to photograph it) but it isn’t audible.

Label on both sides is plain white and, as I never thought to write on which side was which, you’ll never know until either “Happy Families” or “Part-Time Punks” begins, which side is upward.

I seriously don’t think that any record released at this time epitomised the early DIY, “form your own band after seeing a gig, even if you can’t play” more than this one. From the handmade cover, the inability to stay in time, to the referencing of other bands’ records released just months earlier (The O Levels, The Swell Maps, The Lurkers) and of course the notorious Sex Pistols TV appearance. This captures a moment of excitement when it really was possible to be in a band and release a record and sell it to your mates from a start of knowing literally nothing.
