Description
This is part of a large auction featuring mainly early Atlantic R&B/doo-wop 45's. There is lots of great stuff here including Ivory Joe Turner, Ruth Brown and some of the more obscure artists. There is also some cool bonus listings. Check back in a couple of weeks for another King/Federal auction.
Here's the info on this item:
Release: The Playboys - So Good / One Question
Format: 45 rpm 7" single
Year: 1957
Notes: Yellow label first pressing. The only recording by this vocal group out of Hartford, CT. They were renamed The Versatones for some reason on later reissues. Classic 50's doo-wop sound on these. A-side is more of a ballad and the B-side is a great little stomper with a nice sax interlude. Interestingly, this has a "Thank You" label on it from Tetra label-founder Monty Bruce.
Vinyl Condition: VG+, The vinyl itself is in great shape with basically no wear at all - very clean. It sounds great with no skips/ticks/bumps, plays solidly VG+ with hardly any background noise at all. Labels are very clean as well with no tears. There an is X to indicate plug side and the aforementioned sticker. This is a nice copy overall.
I want buying from me to be a good experience for you. I also know that condition can be very subjective, so I encourage you to see pics for exact condition details and ask questions if you need additional information. As always, the item you see is the one you will get. Please see my feedback, I think that will show that I am an accurate and fair grader and make sure my customers are happy.
I will combine shipping for anyone who wins more than one item. If you do need combined shipping, please wait for an invoice before paying.
