Description

The "Thank God It's Friday - Collectors Gift Series" is a super rare and highly sought-after set of ten 12" singles from 1978 featuring artists such as Donna Summer and The Commodores. This limited edition collection is pressed on black vinyl with a 33 RPM speed, each housed in a separate cardboard sleeve. The special promotional only set released by Casablanca to promote the film "Thank God It's Friday," offers a mix of disco funk, disco, film score/soundtrack, and 1970s style music, making it a must-have for collectors and fans of vintage vinyl.

Many of these sets seem to have been split up and discs sold separately, but this is all 10 still together. That makes this item even more rare of a find. All discs are special one-sided pressings, see photo.

Note that this set does not include the original cardboard outer sleeve that held all records together. It is long gone after nearly 48 years. As shown in photos, each disc is in its own original cardboard sleeve and the sleeves show wear. This set has been played and enjoyed over the years and is great for someone who wants to own a piece of disco history and enjoys playing records.

All ten records show light, age‑appropriate sleeve marks from long‑term storage in their original paper sleeves. These are superficial, non‑feelable rubs that are common for 40–50‑year‑old vinyl and do not affect playback.  Some also have light surface marks that don't affect play through or any significant audibility.  Casablanca did a great job of pressing records for disco and these still sound really good.

All sleeves have shelf wear consistent with their age, 48 years; edges are shown in the photo as an example.  Labels/inlays are in excellent condition as shown in photos.  Two have a tiny black bit showing at the hole of the label, see photos.
