Description
THE ACTION (NZ)
NEVER EVER/SOMETHING ABOUT YOU
(ZODIAC Z45/1311) (RELEASED 1967)
Auckland mod/beat group offering from 1967, this highly acclaimed single ranks with the best Kiwi sounds of the day. They released four singles during their tenure, between 1967 and 1968. This is their second single. Did a great cover too of the Vagrants (Leslie West) garage opus “I Can’t Make A Friend”.
A side is a mod pounder cover, originally written and performed by the UK mod band “The Action” (ironic, isn’t it!). Great keyboards and harmonies abound.
B side is the cover of the Four Tops chesnut…Once again a well performed mod/beat stomper.
Record = VG-/VG (Visual VG-, lots of hairlines and markings but plays VG. This is typical of thick vinyl NZ pressings of the day. Some crackling at the commencement of both sides, but nothing untoward.)
Zodiac labels in good condition - minor tear on bottom of label and near spindle, A side.
This is now an extremely sought after record as it rarely appears for sale.
Overall, an item in acceptable condition and an enjoyable listen.
