The Allisons, Surfer Street, Stateside, Mint unplayed demo
Here is an A-label British demo pressing of Surfer Street by The Allisons, released 1964.
It has never been played and is still in the original Stateside range-bag. Catalogue number SS 289.
The B-side, a cover of Barrett Strong’s “Money”, is also mint/unplayed.
This is not the British pop duo the Allisons, this is a truly fabulous slice of driving R&B/early funk/Northern soul from America, where it was issued on the Tip label. The labels are clean. Note that the A-side has been date-stamped 8 May 1964 by the EMI press office – this was the record’s release date – and someone has also written ‘File’ in a very-light blue pen on the A-side. If being super-critical, one could consider that the vinyl has the very occasional lightish shadow mark indicating the record was once kept in a damp room, but this is really irrelevant to the mint condition, won’t affect the playing, and could probably be cleaned off (I didn’t try because I wanted the record to remain ‘untouched’).
