The Allman Brothers Band Self-Titled 1969 Atco Gatefold VG-/G plays Great.
Cover: VG-. typical scuffing and seam splitting (1 inch split on top right of disc-containing gatefold flap, bottom of disc-containing gatefold flap has about a 60% split, see photos)associated with this original issue of this album. Small black dot above Atco logo (see photo).However, front, back and inside gatefold look nice, strangely no ringwear present.
Disc: Visually only a Good grading. Many scratches and scuffs, rub marks. Which makes the actual playing quality so surprising and the only reason I'm listing this(the price of these originals have risen over the years in most cases which you'll notice if you try to buy one).
Audio: Side 1 plays with a noise level of about 3 out of 10 (10 being the worst) when you judge the in-between track sections and initial needle drop. Side 2 plays a little noisier with a noise level of about 4-5 out of 10 (10 being the worst) when you apply the aforementioned standards to it. These levels are largely obliterated when the music starts on this album. While a band that definitely uses dynamics liberally, this albums' quiet moments are almost exclusively relegated to the intro to "Whipping Post" (bass only).And there, the noise is not even very intrusive. There was a skip on "Dreams" I used to notice (in the final verse which begins "Pull Myself Together...").It wasn't there today when I tested it. So, as I 've played this copy 3-4 times (and enjoyed it 3-4 times),I would say, there's no skips on this album, another plus.
