This auction features an original copy of The Amazing Bud Powell , Blue Note BLP 5003, released in 1951, as part of the Modern Jazz Series. This early LP release is considered among the pianist's most important recordings". This is a 10" LP.

Earl Rudolph "Bud" Powell was an American Jazz pianist. Powell has been described as one of "the two most significant pianists of the style of modern jazz that came to be known as Bop", the other being his friend and contemporary Thelonious Monk. Along with Monk, Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie, Powell was a key player in the history of bebop, and his virtuosity as a pianist led many to call him "the Charlie Parker of the piano".

The cover of The Amazing Bud Powell is nice VG+, no creases or bends, but does have age and storage wear (see pics). The vinyl is nice, with no warping or cracks. I cannot comment on quality of play as I have long ago let go of my record player. However, the vintage Jazz records I am selling this week were not abused. LP displays well and should make a nice addition to your vintage Jazz/BeBop memorabilia or vinyl record collection.
