The Atomic Mr. Basie LP "The Count" UK Columbia 1958 1st Press - Great Audio

	£		30
	$		40

Description

An original 1st press of TAMB on the UK Columbia label from 1958. Matrix 1N/1N. Tax Code "XT" =1958. So, absolutely consistent with 1st press way back in 1958. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original flipback cover - note the scalloped flipbacks....this dates it to prior to 1960. Also included is the original Emitex inner sleeve. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex) In superb condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of light marks either side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. When you think that this pressing is from way back in 1958 - the mind does boggle somewhat..that's over 60 years ago! Very little to find fault with at all here. Lovely clean audio as any self-respecting jazz fiend will have to insist on. We couldn't detect more than a few crackles in the occasional isolated moments. A real beaut!
Cover (Vg+) In great shape considering this an original 1st issue cover from 1958! The front looks good with just a bit of laminate lift and coming loose in a couple of places - better looking than most that surface. The rear seems to have mostly avoided the ageing process. The spine looks pretty good with all text still legible.
Inner (Vg+) Some light ageing and the edges have been taped up.
