You'll have to decide for yourself whether this is a first pressing or not. It has -1N / -1N 1st press matrix endings, which changed to -1N / -2N in 1965, but the internet seems to be more concerned about tiny label modifications, of which there were many on this debut album, rather than the pressing sequence of the actual vinyl disc itself. That said, this disc, which was manufactured in 1963 and is part of the huge quantity of original pressings, is in fantastic condition and carries the correct Yellow Parlophone labels as intended, after several previously failed attempts to rectify errors and omissions.

THE DISC: 1N/1N matrix endings Stampers: 1/7-GMM 4/6-GPG
EX The appearance of the vinyl surfaces tells you what to expect. Touchdown of the playing arm reveals near silence on the run-in before the counting-in begins. This continues throughout the entire album with just the mildest sound of static noise, unavoidable on played vinyl. This is hardly worth a mention as to all intents and purposes it is barely audible. ALL tracks play without any audible interference; not even a single 'pop'. This is the best sounding original copy that I have ever had.
Visually, both sides have retained almost ALL of their original deep gloss lustre, with just a few very light, non-sounding handling lines and are as good as they look in the photos above. You would think that the disc had only been played a handful of times by its appearance, but there are many spindle trails fairly close to the hole, although both labels are still in vibrant condition. This is a disc that has been handled with great care and clearly been played on decent equipment, resulting in a wonderful listening experience. THE COVER:
EX For an original EJ Day example, this is in truly remarkable condition. It is made from extra thick card stock, only found on the earliest batches. Also, this one has a distinctive 'reddish' tone as well, which was later adjusted to the more familiar brown shade. I have shown a side-by-side comparison, both of which are EJD covers. Although notorious for disintegrating top and bottom flip-backs, this one has survived completely intact. The printers credits line is undamaged and is in perfect condition. The front panel displays some laminate wrinkles but has survived without any tears or damage. The spine is perfect. The unprotected back panel does show expected toning and aging. It would be hard to find a better example.
THE INNER SLEEVE:
EX Correct, clear polythene lined, 'Patents Applied For' issue. All the seams are completely intact with no disc penetration. Age toned but again, a lovely original issue.

The photos are of the actual item. I always use professional, anti-static, cleaning fluid and listen to the whole disc. Professional mailers are always used.
I have more Beatles records listed right now, so please have a look.
