Description

Just recently I bought a massive collection of 60's and 70's LPs...some are in surprisingly immaculate condition, and some are not, but the original owner (a well-respected Australian vinyl hoarder) was a fastidious collector of the styles he loved - 60's punk/garage, British invasion well-knowns [Beatles/Hollies/Dave Clark 5/Gerry & The Pacemakers/Zombies/Troggs/etc..], 70's West Coast sounds, pop-psych and he'd obviously forraged far and wide since there's a flurry of unique South American, New Zealand,Taiwanese, South African, Japanese releases amongst them all.

Here then, is one of the LPs from his collection:

ORIGINAL FIRST PRESSING?:    Yes, it is...with flipback cover: matt front and back...black and gold 'stereo' sticker folded around spine...mono and stereo catalogue numbers on back at top right...blue text on back...has black and silver 'BANNER STEREO' labels. Although the mono copy was released on the 27th October 1963, the stereo version wasn't released till the 9th Apr. '64, and this is indeed, one of the first stereo pressings. There are FOUR different Lennon-McCartney/Leeds-Music-publishing-credit label designs, and there's conjecture as to which order they came in. It's all about which order the non-logo, text-written, publishing credits appear to the left of the centre-hole...on this copy they read like this:

SIDE ONE: LEEDS MUSIC..TU-CON MUSIC..CASTLE MUSIC

SIDE TWO: PINCUS-GIL..LEEDS MUSIC..CASTLE MUSIC

I believe this to be one of the first three. The matrix numbers are: YEX 94-1 and YEX 95-1

CONDITION:

COVER: ( VG[+] )...has old clear tape, and tape stain, on spine (seam split there too)...has clear tape along bottom edge...and some cover scuffing (see pic), plus a repaired tear at the opening edge...

RECORD: ( VG )...has several light marks (nothing heavy at all), and it plays very well indeed!...

LABELS: (Side One: EX / Side Two: EX- )...
