Description
This is my personal copy of "The BEATLES" purchased within a few days of release in November 1968. RARE - MONO (PMC 7067/PMC 7068)
The labels are in excellent condition though with spindle trails providing evidence of its use. This is an example of the early Apple releases which do not have the legend ("An EMI Recording") on the label.
Side 1 disc surface is very good with a few light hairline scratches and one noticeably deeper mark about 2 mm long. It plays excellent. Side 2 is excellent with a few minor hairlines and one pressing flaw creating a depression which plays through un-noticeably. Sides 3 and 4 are excellent again with a few light hairline scratches.
Record 1 serial is PMC 7067 with side 1 identified on the label by matrix reference XEX 709 and side 2 by XEX 710. The lacquer number stamped on the playing surface run out is XEX 709-1 on side 1 and XEX 710-1 on side 2. additional identification marks stamped are as follows: side 1 mother number is 3, and stamper code is TR indicating that this is produced from stamper number 92. side 2 has mother number 7 and stamper code PG indicating that this is from stamper number 61.
Record 2 serial is PMC 7068 with side 3 identified on the label by XEX 711 and side 4 by XEX 712. The lacquer number stamped on the playing surface run-out is XEX 711-1 on side 3 and XEX 712-1 on side 4. additional identification marks are as follows - side 3 mother is 2 and stamper is LM (84), side 4 mother is 4 and stamper is GDP (106).
The disc sleeves are black with some wear and creasing and on each one side fold has worn through.
The double album sleeve is top opening and of external seam construction. its condition is excellent but has a little bend at the front top corner. The edges of the sleeve are barely worn. The spine is splendid and the lamination is shiny. The sleeve manufacturer is G&L. The only real downside is that it has the sticky label of the record shop from which it was bought - the long defunct Bakers Record Shop in Sittingbourne in Kent where I grew up!
One would be hard pushed to find a better example considering it is over 43 years old - and has been in my personal collection for that entire period. I have now retired from work and have moved - selling only because of a need to downsize.
Happy to respond to any questions - and watch for other albums coming up over the next few days/weeks!!
Offered at a low starting price but have protected its collectability by setting a realistic reserve.
