Description
Just recently I bought a massive collection of 60's and 70's LPs...some are in surprisingly immaculate condition, and some are not, but the original owner (a well-respected Australian vinyl hoarder) was a fastidious collector of the styles he loved - 60's punk/garage, British invasion well-knowns [Beatles/Hollies/Dave Clark 5/Gerry & The Pacemakers/Zombies/Troggs/etc..], 70's West Coast sounds, pop-psych and he'd obviously forraged far and wide since there's a flurry of unique South American, New Zealand,Taiwanese, South African, Japanese releases amongst them all.
Here then, is one of the LPs from his collection:

CATALOGUE #: PMCO-1206 .
DATE OF RELEASE: early March 1964 .
PRESSED IN: AUSTRALIA
ORIGINAL FIRST PRESSING?: No, not quite...this was the last Beatles LP to appear on the rare gold mono labels, and although it was released on 22nd Feb.'64 here, and the yellow and black 'new' label edition appeared on 19th March '64, there were FOUR different label designs of the GOLD MONO EDITION in those 25 days (really!)...and this is the third of them. The differences were subtle, mainly regarding the order from left to right of the publishers' logos to the left of the centre-hole on the Side Two label - this one reads: TU-CON MUSIC..LEEDS MUSIC..JEWEL MUSIC, and is the only one to appear in that specific order.
Has flipback cover: glossy laminated front and matt back...the first issue had the mono catalogue number on the back cover only (these covers are very rare), and at the beginning of March '64, the covers were printed with the mono and stereo catalogue numbers on the back at top right. This is the latter.
The matrix numbers are consistent with the first pressing, and are: XEX 447-1N and XEX 448-1N ...so it appears the original stampers were used for at least the first three pressings.

CONDITION:
COVER: ( VG )...has clear tape on spine and on the back opening edge...plus crinkles on the spine and scuffing and crinkling on the other edges...with a stain on the back (see pix)
RECORD: ( VG )...has several light marks (nothing heavy at all), and it plays very well indeed!...
LABELS: (Side One: EX- / Side Two: EX )...
