The Beatles "Yesterday & Today" Butcher Cover 2nd State original in MONO!
We see one of these every couple years, and we are excited about this one! You are looking at a Beatles confirmed Butcher Cover in 2nd State. The photos tell the story, as you can see the telltale signs that beneath this coer is the very rare butcher cover.
Overall, the condition of the sleeve is not that good, and the record is even worse. Let's start with the sleeve.
There is at lease 1 inch of splitting on the bottom sleeve, and considerable wear on the spine. The top has some splitting as well.
The cover on the front and back has some staining and dirt wear, as you can see in the photos.
The record itself is not in good shape, and if it wasn't the Beatles "Yesterday & Today" we wouldn't sell it. It looks good in the photos, but the photos are far too kind. It's basically a slab of vinyl for looking at, but not for playing. There is about 1/2 of an inch of peeling on the lower left of the front cover. We don't know if someone did this to see if it was a butcher cover or not. In doing so, there appears to be about 1/2 of a U.S. dime worth of damage to the Butcher Cover itself.
The protective sleeve is not original, but it did come from another Beatles record. When we bought the LP it did not have a protective sleeve at all. We put this in there after we bought the LP.
We want to be completely up front about this LP. It is an ORIGINAL MONO BEATLES BUTCHER COVER. You could frame it and it will turn heads. If I were grading it, the LP is G-, the cover is a G. If you are buying this you are looking to probably frame it as is. Second State Butcher covers are becoming as rare as peels, for obvious reasons. You peel all the second states and now they are the collectible!
We want you to be happy with your purchase, but understand that we have a lot of experience in grading LPS. We are selling this one based on the condition as a G- and nothing more. You can see the photos and might grade it higher. If so, that makes it a heck of a value!
