THE BUNCH OF FIVES
'AT THE STATION / GO HOME BABY'
on the original PARLOPHONE RECORDS 45 R 5494 Stock Copy from 1966!
This band was short-lived, and a brief vehicle for Pretty Things drummer and loon Viv Prince, and Mick Wayne (later of Juniors Eyes, David Bowie, and Tickle, who issued the very sought-after 'Subway')
This excellent single their only product, it stands as a rare artifact that hinted of an unfulfilled career that could-and-should have been.
The flip is a stock harmony pop effort, it's the 'A' that is striking.
The wah/swell on the guitars works effectively, and the vocals suggest a little early drug-influenced pop slant....something starting to happen more and more in music at this period.
Whatever you find in the song - it's a good record, and really deserved more attention. I haven't seen this for sale often, and certainly not in this shape.
Here then, is a rare classic artifact from a great period in British music history!
The vinyl is EX to NM. A fine copy!
The labels are in clean bright shape, with middle intact, but there's a slight separation to the paper, in the stamping (see pic). Perhaps this copy did not even reach the shops due to this reason.
A top condition copy of this rare single!
