Description

An original 1st stereo press of AHDN on the UK Parlophone label from 1964. Matrix 1/1. Please note label design is perfectly consistent with 1st press - 'recording 1st published' is mentioned and 'Parlophone' in the perimeter text. Also note that it's employing the wide-body chubby font - this is THE very EARLIEST copy to have been available. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original stereo G&L cover with flipbacks. Also included is the original Emitex inner sleeve. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex+) Wow, a beautiful copy that really has only seen light careful use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are pretty much silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. This example charts within the top three stereo 1st AHDN's I've ever witnessed. It's a low-mileage copy and it really beggars belief that it is here in 2019 looking and sounding quite as nice as this. The audio is nothing short of sublime... Energetic uptempo numbers are rendered perfectly, as are the low-key acoustic numbers. An absolute tour-de-force...you will never beat. Usual catch-all ... you may detect a couple of light crackles in a couple of isolated moments. FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Ex-) Lovely shiny front with only a couple of thumbnail creases and just the lightest of ageing apparent occurring in the white sector. The rear seems to have largely avoided the ageing process - just a touch of grubbiness at the opening. All flipbacks are intact secure. Edge wear is light and the spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. What a lovely specimen...
