Description

The Beatles A Hard Day’s Night. Original 1964 U.K. MONO Pressing LP. Parlophone, PMC 1230. Laminated Flip-Back Garrod & Lofthouse LP Jacket with original Emitex inner sleeve.

LP SLEEVE:

- No seam-splits, rips, tears, or handwriting. Beautifully preserved sleeve of this delicately constructed laminated flip-back sleeve. These fragile sleeves were easily prone to damage and this a rare example of one that has retained much of its original glory. The laminate is smooth with a glassy shine with just a few spots of very minor laminate creasing (along the lower-left edge and few small spots elsewhere (see the 3 picture collage of the close-ups of John, Paul, and George’s faces). If you were to tilt the cover at an angle against direct sunlight, some very faint line marks become noticeable that are just on the surface of the laminate, but not deep enough to affect the actual paper under the laminate (see the close-up of John’s face within the 3 collage picture for an example).

- The “Mono” print on the upper-right corner has the thicker, “Chubby” font, which is indicative of the early pressings (as opposed to the skinnier font used on later pressings) which is indicative of the early pressings.

The back cover is quite stunning. It is bright white and about as close to “As new” you are likely to find. Remarkably preserved considering these back covers had no laminate for protection. There are just a few minor creases to some portions of the edges.

VINYL: Deep, rich and silky shine. The center labels are near pristine with no rips, scuffs, or handwriting. If you were to tilt the vinyl at just the right angle against direct sunlight, some wispy, faint hairline marks, some lite sleeve removal lines, and faint scuff become noticeable to the discerning eye (please see the 10 picture collage comprised of photos of the vinyl surface taken against direct sunlight). These marks are otherwise hard to detect in normal lighting and overall, the vinyl has retained much of the original luster (see the 6 picture collage of the vinyl surface taken under normal room light).

- The Label lists the publishing copyright date as 'RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1964'

- A2 'I Should Have Known Better' has its title split over 2 lines on the Label.

- All of the song titles on side 2 appear on separate lines on the Label.

- The KT purchase tax code embossing on the label on either side of the spindle hole of Side One.

EMITEX INNER SLEEVE: Remarkably preserved considering the fragility of the construction of these original inners. Just a seam-split along the center portion of the right edge (see 3 picture collage). Aside from that, in excellent condition.
