Description
THE BEATLES, ABBEY ROAD. Very rare original UK first pressing.
‘Misaligned Apple’ on the rear of the Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve.
Dark Green Apple labels with No "HER MAJESTY" on Side 2.
Matrix numbers: YEX 749-2 & YEX 750-1.
Sleeve: Very Good +
The sleeve looks great.
Both the front and back retain the original gloss sheen and bright colours.
As expected with a sleeve of this age there is some storage wear but nothing major; no creases, tears or writing.
The rear has a misaligned apple and no “Her Majesty” on track listing.
The spine is in perfect condition as can be seen in the pictures.
All in all a really nice sleeve.
Inner: Excellent
Original apple white inner sleeve with ‘patent pending’ written in black ink is in great condition.
Very crisp corners with no folds or tears and no discolouration.
An additional audiophile quality, anti-static inner sleeve is also provided which I have stored the disc within (last picture).
Disk: Very Good +
I always enjoy listening to Abbey Road and this is a great copy to listen to it on.
The disc retains the original mirror-like finish with no visual sign of groove wear.
Whilst several surface marks can be picked up in the light, playback is excellent on the whole.
Three scratches can be heard: 4 pops on ‘Maxwell’s Silver Hammer’, 4 pops at the start of ‘Because’, and >10 pops at the start of ‘Here Comes the Sun King’. There is also bit of crackle at the start of carry that weight.
None of the defects effect the listening experience, though, which is truly enjoyable - the audio is very clear, with distinct vocals, strings and percussion.
There is minimal background noise and no distortion.
The labels are bright and very clean with minimal spindle wear.
Overall a very nice copy of an increasingly hard to find record!
Vinyl comes in a polythene outer sleeve and will be packaged in a padded vinyl mailer.
