Brief description of item
Here this listing I have another of my BEATLES ORIGINAL records. 'Beatles For Sale' this is the 1st STEREO copy.
A sought after pressing of the very FIRST and earliest pressing on the parlophone label.
1964 pressing, with KT tax code.
Has the sold in subject to text, gramophone co LTD rim text.
Both outer rims have matrix # ending in 1. YEX 142 -1 & YEX 143-1. All of these plus the cat # PCS 3062 indicate a first press release.
The cover is VG++- with no ripping or tearing, only the slightest of wear or creasing in some parts of this well known & often fragile constructed gated cover.
Some very slight pressure marks on the back cover (not ring wear) you can see this in the photographs taken by myself. There are also no pre-owned handwritten names in ink or biro pen. The spine is intact and without split, although slightly folded to one side from opening or closing/storage after all these years. Not bad though, but not perfect. This is being pretty extreme in my description, bearing in mind that this is a first press. Still a very clean & damp free/dirt/dust free cover. The cover opens up and has a matt inside also with no damage or major issues, has the flip back tabs without any loosening of glue. Catalogue number PCS 3062. Bold STEREO on front right hand side of cover. Out of 100% I will happily say 70% so a grade of VG++
The labels are the yellow and black PARLOPHONE bold lettering. Both in EXCELLENT condition, with also the ending matrix of 1/1. these have no pre-owned handwritten names in ink or biro pen. Only very minimal spider lines around the centre spindle hole, these are only visable upon extreme scrutiny over a halogen bulb or very bright light or when tilted to a certain angle. All text is perfectly 100% legible & clear, no faded print or rub. These have the 'Gramophone company LTD text on the rims. KT tax code on side 1. That only the ORIGINAL 1st press have. Note : these are tax codes that were introduced in the recovery years of the country. Also 'SOLD IN U.K. SUBJECT TO RESALE PRICE CONDITIONS, SEE PRICE LISTS. Both labels are still looking very bold & bright, the yellow PARLOPHONE is without break on both sides. Very impressive labels showing you that this has, had very little use or play for both sides.
*ALSO HAS THE INCREDIBLY RARE 'KANSAS CITY' CREDIT LABEL SIDE ONE...Later changed to read medley....
The recording of the medley of "Kansas City" and "Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey!" was memorable for McCartney, who in 1984 said that it required "a great deal of nerve to just jump up and scream like an idiot." His efforts were egged on by Lennon, who "would go, 'Come on! You can sing it better than that, man! Come on, come on! Really throw it!'" The song was inspired by Little Richard, who combined "Kansas City" with his own composition, "Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey!", but Rowley found the lead vocals "strained" and considered it McCartney's "weakest Little Richard cover version" (although McCartney only recorded one other Little Richard cover, "Long Tall Sally", while with the Beatles). However, in contrast to this Ian MacDonald, in his book Revolution in the Head: The Beatles' Records and the Sixties, described it as one of their better covers. The original LP sleeve listed the song as "Kansas City" (Leiber & Stoller). After the attorneys for Venice Music complained, the record label was revised to read "Medley: (a) Kansas City (Leiber/Stoller) (P)1964 Macmelodies Ltd./KPM. (b) Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey! (Penniman) Venice Mus. Ltd. (P)1964."
For the record....
The actual disc has no warping or damage, is scratch free, no needle thrashing or ingrained dust. Very, very clean & hardly used looking. There is not one single mark on this record (both sides) only & this is again being extreme in my description, will you see some wispy hairlines. And will strain to see even these only under very harsh bright light. Under normal daylight conditions this has the appearance of a brand new record. Audio to match. Test played again, plays like a dream. No pops, skips, repetitive ticks in play. Very, very smooth. Hardly noticeable changes when played at a LOUD volume! It has had probably to memory about 3 plays at most for each side in over 5 decades. This has to be a near mint record. Both for it's visual effect & outstanding audio. Cracking example here, not to be missed. Please see the close up photographs available below, taken by myself. No effects added. This is exactly as it appears in these photos. please have a look for yourself at this little gem.
The original dust inner sleeve is still here & in acceptable shape, poly lined inner still attached to the sleeve. BRITISH PATENTS # 800513 FOREIGN PATENTS PENDING. MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN. Has no ripping & only one small part of tearing around the centre. No handwritten names, dirt, damp, age in print etc. Some expected crease from the record being stored inside. VG++
Please see the other Beatles rarities this listing also. Some real outstanding offers this listing. Very hard to come by a FIRST pressing in better condition for sure. I hope this extensive listing & these photographs taken will be of help. Thanks for the interest. And don't be slow in giving this a new caring home. maybe you have another copy already?? if so this will be a fine upgrade if needed.

>> Grading of Items All items are graded conservatively according to Record Collectors Grading System Record Collectors Grading system
Mint (M) The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet. booklet or poster are in perfect condiition. Records marked as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
Excellent (EX) The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
Very Good (VG) The record has obviously been played many times, but displayes no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects is acceptable
Good (G) The record has been played so much that the sound quality has notceably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc
Fair (F) The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
Poor (P) The record will not play properly due to scratched, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing Bad (B) The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler
CD's and CASSETTES As a general rule CD's and Cassettes either play perfectly - inwhich case they are in Mint condition - or they don't, in which case their value is minimal. Cassette tape is liable to deteriorate with age, even if it remains unplayed, so care should be taken when buying old tapes. CD's are difficult to grade visually; they can look perfect but actually be faulty, while in other cases they may appear damaged but still play perfectly. Cassette and CD inlays and booklets should be graded in the same way as record covers and sleeves. In general, the plastic containers for cassettes and CDs can easily be replaces if they are broken or scratched, but card covers and digipaks are subject to the same wear as record sleeves
