Description
THE BEATLES - 'THE BEATLES BEAT'
1965 GERMAN BOOK CLUB PRESSING LP
This rare edition comes from an outstanding collection of original worldwide rarities which I have the pleasure to list this week. Please take a look at my shop to see more discs from this collection.
Although not in the condition I usually like to offer, this is one of their rarest and most sought after European releases.
This original & 100% genuine 1st pressing copy was manufactured in 1965 by the German Book Club (Deutsch Buch Gemeinschaft)
It is on the orange, white and black Odeon/'Impression' label: 6086
The LP features some of The Beatles' hits from 1963-1964 in a mixture of true and re-processed stereo.
The disc is housed within its original unlaminated semi-gloss 'pink', black & white cover.
Matrix numbers: 12PAL 3152 SM-1 & 12PAL 3153 SM-1
Disc weight: 159g
N.B. This is a 100% original 1965 pressing and not a later counterfeit copy.
CONDITION
Disc
Labels: 1. EXCELLENT 2. VERY GOOD +
Both labels are clean & bright with no marks or writing to either. There is some minor wear to each centre hole and a small area of light rubbing and 'bubbling' to the right of the 'Impression' wording on label 2, but no other blemishes.
Visual: GOOD
Both playing surfaces are clean but do display numerous marks and light scratches consistent with frequent handling & play. There is some visible groove wear (whitening) to the frist track on side 1 and to the first few grooves of the first track on side 2. The only significant scratch which is feelable beneath my fingertips measures 1cm and is on track of side 1. Both sides of this extremely rare disc lie 100% flat on the turntable with no dishing or warping.
Play: FAIR
This rare disc is still just about playable, but has unfortunately not been cared for properly. The first track on side 1 plays with considerable surface noise, as does the begining of the first track on side 2. The other tracks play reasonably well with the exception of some soft repeating clicks throughout half of track 4 on side 1. There are no jumps, repeats of any other major faults. Please bear these issues in mind when considering your bid.
Cover
FAIR-GOOD
This example is fairly tired and displays general handling & storage wear throughout. The images on the right tell most of the story, so I'll let those do the talking and just add that there is a 9cm split to the lower seam and a 2cm split to the upper one.
