The Beatles Christmas Record
December 1963
The Beatles Christmas Record was recorded on October 17, 1963, the same day as they recorded "I Want To Hold Your Hand" and “This Boy.” About 30,000 total copies were manufactured. The 5:08 minute flexi-disc was sent to UK Fan Club members on December 6, 1963
The Beatles Public Relations man, Tony Barrow, had the original idea for the Beatles Christmas Fan Club Discs; he hoped they would reduce the piles of fan mail the band could no longer answer; he was inspired by the Queen's own Christmastime message to her subjects. So, on October 17, 1963, after recording "I Want To Hold Your Hand" and "This Boy," the boys sat down to read Tony Barrow's script, from which they deviated wildly.
The Beatles first Christmas record features several renditions of the traditional carol "Good King Wenceslas" and individual messages from each of the Beatles’, ending with a closing chorus of "Ricky the Red-Nosed Ringo". This auction is for the Beatles’ 1963 Christmas record, The Beatles Christmas Record. The flexi is in Very Good condition, while the label is Very Good+. The cover is in Very Good condition, with no writing, a minor seam split, a bit of staining, and two staples, one top and one bottom, keeping the flap in place (these might be original; I really don’t know)
