The Beatles For Sale, 1964 Uk Stereo First Pressing
Run outs indicate
Side 1 - YEX 142-1 (The 2 is re-etched) so first laquer featuring 3 for 3rd mother at 9 o'clock and AM at 3 o'clock indicating stamper 34 so a side 1 that is middling of the first presses.
Side 2 - YEX 143-1 thus again first laquer this time with 4 for 4th mother and GO for 15th stamper. Features the 'K T' embossed tax code on side 2 label.
Vinyl - has til now been stored for decades unseen and unplayed. Owned from new by my aunt the record is still in excellent shape and has many great plays left in it. Prior to grading it has been ultrasonically cleaned in my Degritter. The record is flat and well centred. The labels are clean though have some light spindle marks. Surface wear is low with only a few light hairlines and two superficial light scuff spots to side 1 under torchlight and close up inspection. Side 2 is similar with low wear and no major visual nasties. Ive bought worse looking NM records of this age but i would consider this a VG+ visually. On my vintage but lovely Pioneer PL-51 with Shure nude elliptical MM the sound from my system is wonderfully warm and period sounding. There is some constant mild snap and crackle with barely a pop or two synonymous with the age and condition, its very inoffensive as expected and its all part of the charm right? There is nothing of the non-filled modern pressing nasties here. It is likely many setups will get a different result than my humble one with regards to playback so ymmv!
Jacket - original laminated gatefold with inner opening and flipback to inner. The spine has squashed and theres abit of creasing, ringwear and light storage wear but nothing major and its holding up excellently. Inner sleeve original and in excellent shape!
A lovely find with known ownership and such little use overall!
