Description
An original 2nd mono press from 1964. Matrix 3N/4N. Probably no more than a few short months from the day of release. This is a lovely early copy with 'Parlophone' mentioned in the perimeter text, and 'record 1st published' exhibiting too. BUT most importantly it has survived into 2020 in super condition. Worth noting the pressing weight of this copy - an unusually heavy solid copy. The vinyl comes housed in an original gate-fold cover. Also included is an original Emitex inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete. Would be of interest to someone who is after top-level playback - a beaut for sure..>>>
Vinyl (Ex+) In superb condition and has only seen very light use. Under close inspection I'm struggling to make out anything more than a couple of the slightest marks - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback without reservation. This is highest level I grade at and reflects that - I'm not sure I've ever heard a copy of BFS this clean and perfect. Intros and inbetweens are perfectly quiet even at high volume. I often find BFS a little bit disappointing even on what, at first, looks like quite a decent copy. But this example has real pedigree - it is much better than what you tend to experience. At worst a few isolated low-level crackles in a couple of isolated moments. Maybe the heavy pressing is helping, or the light use, but either way "this is no normal copy". Even those fussy tracks [Mr Moonlight / Follow The Sun etc] , that often are starting to exhibit a touch of groove-wear, are superbly rendered. THIS is the copy that a true collector and audiophile would appreciate. FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Ex) Well, I'm pleased to report that the cover isn't too far behind the LP. Lovely shiny flat front cover with only one slight crease down in that bottom right corner. Overall the front panel is looking very impressive - on many copies it bears the brunt of heavy use. The rear seems just as good with perhaps a couple of minuscule creases. The interior looks pristine and it's worth noting that the interior of the spine is especially well preserved. This often looks worn, particularly at the top and bottom ends [Not here!] Edge wear is extremely slight and the openings still sharpish. The spine is 100% intact - which is very unusual. Please note it has, however, folded over at 45 degrees [i.e. not perfectly square..which occurs on nearly all copies]. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. Certainly one of the best specimens I've witnessed.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing. No splits, but one or two small tears to the opening die-cut circle.
