This is Capitol Records EAP 1-2121.

It was issued in May 11, 1964.

It is a Scranton pressing.

This EP contains 4 songs. Side 1: “ROLL OVER BEETHOVEN” & “ALL MY LOVING” Side 2: “THIS BOY” & “PLEASE MISTER POSTMAN”.

This EP was issued in a cardboard cover entitled “FOUR BY THE BEATLES”.

The EP format (7-inch record with 2 songs on each side) for Beatles’ records was not common at all in the U.S. In fact, only 3 Beatles’ EPs were commercially released in the U.S. in the 1960s: 2 were issued by Capitol Records and another was issued by Vee Jay Records. The record in this auction is one of those Capitol-issued EPs.

It seems that U.S. Beatles EPs (both covers and records) have always been rather tough to come by (when compared to the availability of Beatles singles picture sleeves and records).

The CARDBOARD COVER is in NICE VG CONDITION. There is very light wear to the images on both sides. (NOTE: One slick is a bit lighter than the other, but that is how it was made, not due to sun fading.) It looks like there were some seam splits on the top and bottom of the cardboard cover that have been nicely repaired. The spine is fine. There is light to moderate wear on the corners and 2 very small stains at the lower left corner of the A-side of the cover beside Paul’s straight leg. As you can see in the images, the cover looks very nice and presentable.

The VINYL is in VG to VG- (VG Minus) CONDITION. There are numerous light surface hairlines/scuffs, (but NONE of these are “feelable”). There is a very light stain on the B-side label just above the Capitol logo from an old sticker and a very tiny fleck of paper missing on the B-side label on the title “Please Mister Postman”.
It’s DEFINITELY a VERY UNCOMMON BEATLES CAPITOL EP for someone’s Beatles or vinyl collection!
