This is a hard to find album with an interesting history. At the same time The Beatles' popularity was rising sharply, Vee Jay Records was about to lose the rights to release Beatles songs in the US. So Vee Jay quickly released this compilation of Beatles songs that they had the rights to mixed with songs by English/Australian singer Frank Ifield, another artist the company was trying to promote.
No, The Beatles did not perform with Frank Ifield for this album. And no, these aren't even live recordings that were performed "on stage" anywhere. These are separate studio recordings by each artist simply hyped by Vee Jay Records while they still could.
This is a rare album. And it is rarer still for being the stereo release.
I rate the quality of the vinyl as VG+. I've played it once through since acquiring it and found it to have a very clean sound. There is a small white mark on the vinyl on track 2 of side one - Frank Ifield's 'Any Time'. During this track there is a extremely subtle background pop that recurs for maybe 10 seconds. I have not cleaned the album beyond a light brushing.
I rate the album cover as Good because a previous owner wrote their name across the front and wrote one word on the back as well. If not for these markings I would rate the album cover as VG or better as it is clean, has little wear, and is solid with no splits. Please see photos for further evidence of condition.
