· As with a lot of my collection I bought it brand new and filed it.
Late 70s pressing of this Australian release. Originally issued in mono June 1966 and Feb '68 in stereo.
Seventh and final variation of the orange "1-box".
According to beatlesaustralia website, the same colour and type-font of this label WITH "stereo" was issued in 1979. The copy that's pictured here WITHOUT "stereo" was purchased new in 1979.

While this album, along with Vol 2, were conceived in early 1966, with the stereo version not issued until Feb 1968, makes this album unique in that it contains the 1965 stereo mixes of I Want To Hold Your Hand, Day Tripper and We Can Work It Out rather than the new mixes that were created by EMI UK in November 1966 for "A Collection Of Beatles Oldies".
However, for this stereo release of Volume 1, EMI (Australia) replaced the mono mix of She Loves You with the fake stereo mix created by EMI UK in November 1966. "I'll Get You" is in mono, however.
