Description
This U.K. 1st MONO pressing dates from August 1965 released on the black & yellow Parlophone label (PMC 1255). Both labels bear the 'Sold in UK...' text with The Parlophone Co. Ltd...' worded rims and the less common 'MT' purchase tax code in the centre of the side 1 label. The unusual thing with this particular copy is the 'Times New Roman' typeface was often with the 'KT' purchase tax code, not the 'MT', as indicated here. Also note the 'Northern Songs, NCB' credit appears below the band name. It is believed this is the first label variant and was corrected shortly after.
The record is housed in a front laminated 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed mono cover with large front 'MONO' indicator.
CONDITION:
Sleeve: The sleeve is in VG+ condition and fully intact with light-moderate wear but no major faults. All corners and opening edges are in nice shape with some general wear and no heavy bumps or bruising. The exposed rear panel has some aged handling marks and mild discolouration. There is also a signature written on the top right hand corner of the rear. The flipbacks are intact, as are both seams and the fully worded spine.
Vinyl: The vinyl is in VG+ condition with a nice gloss and only some light scuffing and hairline scratches visible under bright halogen light. The label is also in clean condition (VG+) with no writing/stickers and barely any wear around the spindle holes. The 'MT' purchase tax code is still clearly visible.
Inner: In VG condition with a few marks and a small seam split on the bottom.
