Description
The Beatles - Help!
I am pleased to offer for sale this exceptional, 'final upgrade' copy of The Beatles fifth studio album, Help.
Both the sleeve and vinyl are found in superb visual condition. Unlike most copies, the sleeve maintains the brilliant white finish that it was originally sold with. In addition, the heavy-weight mono first press vinyl sounds superb! Take a listen yourself below.
Album Details:
Serial number: PMC 1255
Matrix number: XEX 549 - 2 / XEX 550 - 2
Stamper codes: 4 AOP / 1 ARM
Tax Codes: KT
The matrix numbers confirm that the record is a true UK mono first pressing.
The labels are a first/second variant crossover. Side 1 has the second variant, identified by the Sans Serif font, the position of 'The Beatles' underneath the title list and the position of the side indicator between the numbers and letters of the catalogue number. Side 2 has the first variant, identified by the Times New Roman font, the position of 'The Beatles' underneath the title list and the position of the side indicator underneath the first digit of the catalogue number.
The vinyl record is housed within an extremely rare Garrod & Lofthouse flip-back sleeve which has a mid-size outline mono aural indicator on the front side.
Completing the album is the original white EMItex 'protect your records' inner sleeve.
Condition:
The condition report provided below is given as a guide only. I include high-quality, comprehensive photographs as well as a complete audio recording in my listings to enable you to make an informed decision on the condition of this record yourself.
Vinyl: EXCELLENT
Labels: EXCELLENT +
The labels are bright, clean and without writing. Only a handful of light spindle marks can be seen on either side.
Visual: EXCELLENT
Immaculate 'factory-fresh' deep-gloss playing surfaces which only show a couple of subtle paper scuffs in bright daylight. Underneath a halogen desk lamp a few barely visible wispy hairlines can be seen alongside a sparkling rainbow shine.
Sound Quality: EXCELLENT
Please use the ebay internet site to enjoy the audio clips. The eBay app does not facilitate playback.
Side 1:
Side 2:
The record plays with the distinction one might expect from a mono first pressing on the original EMI heavy-weight vinyl. The bass is punchy, the vocals are crisp and clear and the instrumentation is well defined. The lead ins are quiet, the dead wax in-between songs and at the end of each side is quiet. It's superb!
Sleeve: EXCELLENT +
This 1st class sleeve looks fantastic. The front laminate retains the original lustre and the cover art maintains bright colours. The rear is very clean. The flip-backs have minor discolouration where the laminate is not present. The top and bottom are without any wear. The opening edge has very subtle wear. The pinched spine is without wear. A fantastic sleeve that would be difficult to improve upon.
Inner Sleeve: EXCELLENT
The original inner sleeve is in great condition. It is very clean, without any staining and with minimal creasing.
Additional Details:
Before the audio test was performed the vinyl was cleaned first by an Okki Nokki vacuum cleaner (using L'art du Son cleaning solution) and then an Audio Desk ultrasonic cleaner.
After cleaning, the vinyl is housed inside a brand new mobile fidelity anti-static inner sleeve.
The vinyl will be packaged outside of the sleeve, both of which are stored inside an archival quality polypropylene outer sleeve.
The record will be sent via an insured courier in a padded vinyl mailer.
