Brief Artist & Album Info: "HEY JUDE" (original title: "The Beatles Again") is a 1970 collection of non-album singles and B-sides by the Beatles. It included "I Should Have Known Better" and "Can't Buy Me Love", two singles released by Capitol Records whose only previous American album appearance had been on the A Hard Day's Night soundtrack album, which had been released by United Artists Records. The Hey Jude LP had been out of print since the late 1980's, although it remained available on cassette during the 1990's. The album was issued on CD for the first time in 2014, as an individual release and in a box set titled The U.S. Albums.

The Hey Jude album was a project conceived by Allen Klein and Apple Records. Klein had negotiated a more lucrative contract for the Beatles in 1969 and was keen to maximise the band's income through the release of a new album. He directed Allan Steckler of ABKCO/Apple to work on one. Steckler chose songs that had not appeared on a Capitol album in the United States and that spanned the group's career. He also focused more on recent singles than on earlier material.

The Green Apple Labels are Both in SUPERB condition with NO spindle wear or spider marks to be seen anywhere I would easily grade these as EXCELLENT!!!!

VINYL:

Plays throughout absolutely brilliant with very little background noise. There are the odd Clicks but no Jumps. The record still contains that glossy sheen though there are several very minimal surface marks and thumbnails to be seen, these in NO way interfere with the superb sound quality. This Album plays up to and  beyond its high visual grading with hardly anything of note to fault. It offers strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear – sound quality is very high with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. A typical polished production from George Martin. Minimal surface sound and no tracking issues. This play-grade proved a real pleasure when playing this fast disappearing Apple album. It will prove quite difficult to find a significantly better copy and merits a very strong recommendation. I would grade both sides as VERY GOOD++!!!!

COVER: 

Klein authorised the release of the album as a sales buffer during post-production of the delayed Let It Be album. In 2007 Neil Aspinall claimed that the back cover was supposed to be the front cover and vice versa but that Klein had reversed them in error.[4] However, at least three prototype cover designs are known to exist, with the earliest of those showing the photos "reversed": the art department seemingly made the determination that the photo that now appears on the front cover was better suited for that purpose. The front and back cover pictures were taken at the last-ever Beatles photo session, on 22 August 1969, at John Lennon's home Tittenhurst Park.

 This is a single fully laminated format. Printed and made in Great Britain by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd.

Cover Lamination: What a fantastic front picture. The laminate still retains a fine shine and clarity without any dulling. However there are several very slight laminate creases (Not Splits) to the front of the cover.The spine is in decent order, with all writing readable.The opening edges are slightly frayed. The reverse of the cover is not as nice as the front as there are more prominent laminate creases and ring wear. This cover is incredibly difficult to find in Ex+ condition simply because of the design and age. However I would be happy enough to grade it as Good++!!!!

COVER SUMMARY: Not seen often, this one is in good condition with only gentle clues of age, any blemishes mostly light – a few laminate creases are incredibly hard to avoid at the barest minimum. This classic cover should (As described)please many collectors.

INNER SLEEVE: The Original and Correct Made In Great Britain inner has hardly any creasing and all edges are unsplit with no repairs. This unlined EMI inner is graded as Very Good+!!!!

Album Played For Grading: I play/grade ALL records I offer before submitting, I also play them in their entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness. I play from the beginning to end. I use a Linn LP12 Sondek turntable with Ittok Mk II arm and Ortofon Quintet Black moving coil cartridge and Linn Lingo, with my Linn system and Forest Totem Speakers. This system is guaranteed  to pick up any distortion or interference within the sound.

Grading: In my opinion I REFUSE to believe that there is ANY record that can be truly graded as Mint, the BEST that could be offered is Mint- (minus)!!!! Especially so from the 50's, 60's, 70's or even up to the present date!!!! Even copies bought new today would have some form of imperfection on the Record or Cover!!!! Under that assumption I will NEVER use the word Mint in any of my descriptions and Mint- is the HIGHEST grade I would ever offer. So I will only from Excellent, Good or Poor with a -(minus), +(plus) or ++(plus,plus)!!!!
