It’s impossible to find a more desirable and rarer The Beatles album than the 1st Stereo “Ad Back” cover Version 1 of “Introducing… The Beatles”. In spite of that Vee-Jay Records were perfectly aware of Capitol Records planning an all-out promotional campaign for The Beatles in the US as was reflected in the December, 1964 issue of Billboard Magazine, and potential legal problems in the future, the company made the decision to release “Introducing…The Beatles” nonetheless. The design of the back cover’s paste over slick was still not ready when the metal parts had already arrived at the pressing plants where Vee-Jay placed the order at. Being extremely limited in time, Vee-Jay decided to use the design of the inner sleeve prepared for this issue as the back cover for the 6000 front covers that had already been printed. This issue of The Beatles' 1st studio album "Introducing...The Beatles" is indeed considered to be one of the rarest among all of The Beatles albums released in the US. This copy represents the 1st Stereo Version containing the withdrawn tracks, "Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You". The Stereophonic cover of this copy has the "Other Significant Albums of Interest on Vee-Jay Records" paste-over slick on the back with 25 adverts of other VJ releases, which is commonly known as the "Ad Back" version. The front cover has a rare vertical "Printed in U.S.A." text in the lower left-hand corner. Original cardboard cover with the interior containing the ¼” flaps at the top and bottom. The cover still remains in its original Sears protective distributor baggy with the orange logos in the opposite corners. It’s incredibly hard to find a copy of this album in such a great condition. The original 1st print labels of this copy represent one of the rarest label variation with the centered titles and a large “Stereo” banner at the center top 12 o’clock, unlike the more common labels which have the left justified titles and “Stereo” banner at 3 or 9 o’clock. Black with a multi-color band Vee-Jay Records labels contain an oval Vee-Jay logo, 2.75” deep groove pressing ring and “Long Playing” and “Microgroove” banners along with having the withdrawn “Love Me Do” and “P.S. I Love You” track. The album comes with an original Vee-Jay Records "Other Significant Albums of Interest on Vee-Jay Records" inner sleeve with 25 adverts of other VJ releases on each side. Original thick glossy vinyl pressing with the 1st matrix numbers and original “AudioMatrix” machine stamp in the trail-off vinyl. The vinyl has a unique 1st release date “6-28-63” stamp handwritten in the trail-off vinyl. For this particular reason, the listing indicates 1963 instead of 1964 as the release date. This is the rarest American Record, Michigan plant pressing as identified by the machine stamped “ARP” symbol of the plant in the runout on both sides. The true 1st pressing vinyl contains the 1st very early -A1 / -A1 matrix numbers and “S” suffix. The full matrix numbers featuring the machine "AudioMatrix" stamp, are as follows: Side 1 - 63-3402 S A1 ARP AudioMatrix; Side 2: 63-3403 S 6-28-63 A1 ARP AudioMatrix.

The Ad Back cover remaining in its original Sears protective baggy is very clean and is graded as Excellent. It doesn't have any writing or splits. The back cover has some very light shelf wear along with some very light small stain from a tape in the upper right-hand corner, but absolutely no residue. The paste over slick retains its beautiful vibrant colors and doesn't have any ring wear at the top and bottom. The rigid spine contains a fully readable text. I grade the vinyl as Very Good Plus for Side 1 and Strong Very Good for Side 2. The vinyl has some very light non-feelable surface hairlines and marks along with some light scuffs from the original inner sleeve, which is in Near Mint Minus condition. The super clean labels are in Near Mint Minus condition and completely wear- and scuff-free with Side 1 having a light factory defect at 10 o'clock. The vinyl plays great with a punchy, dynamic and vivid Stereo sound only having some very light occasional static, which most likely could get reduced or go away if the record is professionally cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine.
