Description

This is a very first pressing of Walls And Bridges released in the UK on 4 October 1974
The matrix numbers are YEX 937-Z5 and YEX 938-Z6. Also etched into the run outs are a crossed out SW-1-3416-Z5 on side 1 and SW-2-3416-Z6 on side 2 which are the American matrix numbers that were now appearing on Apple UK first presses.
The sleeve is in very good to excellent condition which is a plus for these notably flimsy sleeves. It has a touch of shelfwear but no writing or rips. The writing on the spine is legible which is unusual to find as the spine is really thin and the writing is printed on the flap's hinging positions
The sepia tinged inner is in excellent condition, just the odd feint mark. It is the correct first press inner being made from thick cardboard (thicker than some album covers I've owned) with the top corners finished at a 45 degree angle and the bottom corners finished at 90 degrees (later presses are made from thinner cardboard finished off with rounded edges)
The 8 page booklet is present and is in excellent condition
The record itself is in excellent condition. It retains a nice shine though there is the odd very light mark that does not affect the playback. You'll see that there is hardly any wear around the spindle hole. I haven't played it for years though the last time I did I noted that that it played great all the way through - just a touch of feint crackle here and there and a few very feint ticks on Going Down On Love
Overall a solid example of a very first press
UK only - will be posted in record mailer with stiffener
