Description
Here we have a nice and completely original UK copy of 'Lady Madonna' on Parlophone R5675 issued in 1968.
I say complete because it comes in the period correct green UK Parlophone sleeve which is essentially a Type '6' with the top wavy cut and front top rectangular white box but with the later 7/3 to 50' (ie shillings!) on the reverse. On the inside is a small sales sticker (Sold By Boots the Chemist, Cambridge) which adds further to the heritage. I have to say the sleeve is in particularly clean shape with no tears or blemishes apart from some age creasing. It feels clean and fresh to the touch so I rate it 8/10 for condition.
The vinyl itself is flat and shiny with the clean labels showing evidence of several plays at the spindle holes. In room daylight at the window it looks fine yet under the evil table lamp I see some storage and handling scuffs and light hairlines. So visually I give the disk 7 /10.
Not least and what raises this offering to a whole different level is the pukka Fan Club insert. Note the originality as evidenced by the 'tear -off' return portion on the bottom third of the paper. As can be seen it is unblemished but like the sleeve has slight creasing which is the worse I can say about it! As such the insert gets 8.5 /10 from me.

Hi. I'm just preparing the packing when I realised this is probably a Decca contract pressing. Parlophone contracted out pressings to rival companies due to demand and this example with the prominent raised centre section containing the spindle hole is likely out of the Decca plant.
Contract pressings are supposedly more collectable but whatever!
