Description
For sale here is a rare two-disc bootleg set by The Beatles entitled "Live at Shea". The records are on 7-inch black vinyl and the set comprises two 33-rpm records, each containing six tracks. These recordings were released in December 1970 on Freedom Records.
The total playing time is approximately 30 minutes and the track listing is as follows:
Disc 1 1 - Twist and Shout 2 - You Can't Do That 3 - All My Loving 4 - She Loves You 5 - Things We Said Today 6 - Roll Over Beethoven
Disc 2 1 - Can't Buy Me Love 2 - If I Fell 3 - I Wanna Hold Your Hand 4 - Boys 5 - A Hard Days Night 6 - Long Tall Sally
The title of this bootleg set is somewhat misleading. The Beatles live concerts from 1964 at The Hollywood Bowl and 1965 at Shea Stadium were professionally recorded by EMI with the intention of releasing an official live LP but the project got shelved. The story goes that George Martin was called in to remix these recordings and an acetate copy of the masters subsequently reached the bootleggers. This two EP set is the result, but the tracks are actually taken from the 23rd August 1964 concert at The Hollywood Bowl and not the 1965 concert at Shea Stadium.
The discs themselves are in very good condition with no sign of any significant scratches or wear. The record sleeves are in fair condition but not perfect. The sleeve of part one has a mark where the price sticker was removed many years ago. Please refer to the photos. I purchased these around 1975 from Penny Lane records in Liverpool and they've only been played a handful of times since.
